Title: Sexing chickens
Post by: ukag0972 on November 09, 2009, 03:38:42 pm
Anyone got any experience of this?

Is it easy?
I've got 14 to sort out, they're around 14 weeks old. Some of them I would say look like cockadoodles, and when I let them out they face upto each other.
Would all their combs and woggly bits grow at the same rate?
They are scots grey and leghorn crosses!!

Any ideas folks!!

All depends on the breed... sometimes you really can't tell until they begin to crow (eg silkies and araucanas) but with leghorn crosses it should be fairly easy, the lads have really big combs.  Unfortunately for you, leghorn females have largers combs than scots grey males, so I think you might have to wait a while to be absolutely sure!
