Title: Shearing finished!!
Post by: feldar on June 19, 2014, 03:07:26 pm
Yippee i got hot sweaty and covered in sheep grease but we are done. Bare bums in the field now ( just the sheep not us!) full wool bags in the barn and a couple of fleeces to take to show.
Got a Portland cross and two Black Welsh Mountain fleeces. I know the BWM wont get anywhere but i do like to take their fleeces to represent the breed.
Some of mine came off like carpets, tough and really flakey, Shearer said it was called sheep grit? i've never seen it before on my other breeds. was it the wet winter we had?
The BWM wool i know isn't worth much, i think they said 20-40 pence a kilo depending on where you go. But our Down breed wool is worth a bit more and the price has just gone up.
Anyway it's good to see all the sheep comfortable and get rid of all that pigging fly strike. Funnily enough not had one case in the BWMs :relief:

God no! i have enough problems holding them still to check their feet.
I find i can't hold the  handset anyway, the vibration makes me let go and drop them. I physically can't grip them when it's switched on.
no good vibrations for me :eyelashes: :-J
