Did any one see this in the newspapers the other day. At a time when all we read is doom and gloom something very simple can make you smile.
Experts from the Natural History Museum in London are to carry out tests on an egg which produced twin ducklings in St Austell.
The babies, who are doing well, appeared from the same shell within minutes of each other on 22 October in a "rare" occurrence .

I presume they wil be identical twins.

I've often fancied incubating a double yolker just to see what may emerge but the thought of "Siamese twin" chickens has stopped me. I would hate to have to cull them just to satisfy my whim.

Remember the yoke whether it be a single or double is what the developing chick feeds off, it is the white of the egg that develops. :chook:

Yes, that's true, James, but you might still have conjoined twins if the embryos grow close together - it's all very fluid inside that shell!. I think I'd feel the same about not wanting to hatching a double yolker. However, I'd be interested in the results from anyone who isn't such a wimp as me.

O.K. Will have a go. (I think) Just thought, conjoinism may show up on candling so will let them go then. Just had another thought! I've known people who have sat twelve eggs and had thirteen chicks, so, who knows?!!
