Title: Hello everyone
Post by: Moregin on October 25, 2009, 01:34:09 am
Hi from sunny Central Region.

I have been looking to do this for a wee while and have finally got the head of steam up to go for it.  We currently have half an acre of garden, chicken run, veg patch and house but my wife and I are looking to rent a small hayfield to start the expansion of our global empire!!!  It's about 1.5 or 2 acres and is right beside our house.  I am reasonably handy so am looking forward to doing more DIY with pig arc's and chook huts to build and the missus is a wizard in the kitchen - she will be itching to read the recipe pages.  We have lots of domestic animal experience but a limited amount of livestock knowledge so I expect I will be on the forum asking for advice pretty soon!
We have about 20 mixed chooks and sell our surplus eggs to cover the feed costs.  My veg plot and the fruit bushes I know of hidden in the area give us a good supply for the kitchen including some for jam and liqueur production.

Cheers

Stuart

Thanks for the welcome.  Reading through some of the posts in the forum has been great fun - I have even recognised one or two people I know from other activities, my wife shows some of our dogs and I work them.  It's a small world indeed!!

We are really looking forward to having a chat Rosemary - thanks.

thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

We managed to miss the Bramble picking, got sidetracked with other stuff - but got me sloes in a couple of weeks ago, although Stuart has a 'stash' somewhere and has been promising to go out and get some more.  Found a new recipe or sloe gin in the shooting times, and it claims to only take a couple of weeks to mature  ;) needless to say we will be trying that.

Well Mrs Massie,

Yep you are one.....

Think of a big bloke in a kilt and a rather frazzled trophy rep - ring any bells ?

Well you should know that good judges only see the dogs not the people. ;)  I'll put my thinking cap on but unless I imagine you with a dog on the end of a lead I rather think I'll draw a blank ::).  Any more hints? :-[

Only kidding, its Stuart and Katrina Conway.  At HPR's committee meeting last time the chair asked for any apologies and I offered one on behalf of Gordon Haran's shirt!  Pink with brown stripes I think it was - think he got dressed in the dark. ;D ;D ;D
