Title: Turkey feeding
Post by: mentalmilly on June 11, 2014, 04:12:27 pm
Hopefully my hen is about to hatch some turkey eggs.  Can l feed these poults the same chick crumbs as chicks get, which is medicated, or do l need special crumbs for them.  I know they need a higher protein feed but have read the are prone to coccidiosis.  Has anyone had this problem please?

You can get turkey crumb which has a higher protein level.  I couldn't get hold of small quantities of the crumb with coccidiostat in it and didn't need 20kg as I only had 3 poults and now only have 2 after mama hen squashed one  :-[

Poults can be raised perfectly well on chick crumbs without coccidiostat.
