Unlike most 5 year olds my daughter never really asks for much. Next month she turns 6 and the only thing she really wants for her birthday is a :goat: !!
Bless - living in a Wimpey estate in Central Scotland space doesn't permit such things. She already has chickens, marine fish, a wormery and a spaniel now the only thing she really really wants is a Goat.........
How do I let the poor girl down gently and what can I get her that wont be a dissapointment? :-\

Gill why don't you tell her the reasons why she can't keep a goat at home but she can "adopt" one of her own that she gets to visit from time to time. You are welcome to let her think that 1 of my lot can be the 1 she "adopts", if that makes sense. I know we are a wee bit away but only an hour? Only a thought and I will not be offended if this is a no goer. :)

What a great idea, James - you could be inundated though! ;D ;D Hope you're resting!

You could buy a goat for a family in Africa farmAfrica.org.uk does these gifts. Maybe too young yet, though.
I see she's now a calender girl, too.
-
Is she? I had absolutely no idea whose photos I'd chosen - I just looked at them all and thought - that would look good in January, or that's a nice one for the summer - etc etc. Which one is Gill's daughter - the one holding the long legged chicken? or the big smiley one? or one of the pig cuddlers?

Oh James what a really lovely idea - What a shame you are not a little closer...... Ella gets really car sick and we have to drug her on any trip over about 1/2hr, but I shall definitely keep you in mind once she gets a little older and hopefully travels better. She would absolutely love your place - but I could see the wanted list increasing if she saw your set up. Thanks again I shall definitely bring her over for a wee look see at one point. x
Thanks Rosemary but you are right she is still a little wee for an African goat.... Didn't realise she was a calender girl! Didn't manage the meeting last week so haven't seen the calender yet. She will be delighted!

Only put them over to Rosemary at the weekend so no-one has seen them yet. They'll be on sale at the November meeting, but a lot of them already ordered, including your one. Some folk taking 3 or 4, but we can re-order if required. Just need to call my pal, but we'd have p & p to pay too, as I hand carried the first 50. What a weight too! My cabin bag just made it on 10 kilos. ;D ;D

Thanks Annie, Look forward to seeing them then. x x G

What a lovely offer James
I wish I had been in contact 18 months ago when I had a similar problem.

Ella is the one with the eggs in her hand looking holding them up to the camera. She's in another one too. I don't know who the pig huggers are or the other wee girl with the chick. There is aso a rather fetching one of a lady plucking a dead hen....
Carol and I spent half an hour yesterday trying to decide which photo's were whose.
It's really very good.

hey, you could get Ella a calendar!!

As someone who was horse mad at that age, and wanted my own pony, I can sympathis
We have a local animal sanctuary, who have animals, including goats, that you can adopt, have a photo and update of, and visit, although it sounds as though travelling is not a good idea. Maybe there is something similar near to you? Or someone very close by with a goat to visit.

Beth's got lovely friendly goats, Gill. Ella will love them - and there's the puppy too!
Beth - not sure if I'll be back at agility after next Tuesday - Belle is due 3rd November, o may have to miss a couple of weeks with Freckles. Will need goats milk from about mid November when i start to wean them. Can I buy some from you and freeze it?

Hi Beth, I have shown her the photos of your goats and she would love to come see them. I have a lovely young silvergrey Dorking cockeral (see marketplace)looking for a new home if you would like him? Thanks Gillian. x
