Just wanted to let you all know about my succesful hunting and gathering mission to the deep south.
I returned on Saturday from Yorkshire with 3 pullets and a fine cockerel (well actually he's a bit of a gawky teenager as yet) - these are the birds that I have been wanting all year and they are beautiful beautiful Croad Langshans
I didn't say anything before i left because I was really worried about doing the long drive and didn't want to tempt fate by bragging before the event.
The event has spurred OH into some fencing and we have half a fence (luckily its the bottem half, rather than the left or right half) now so I will also be able to go and get the Shetland geese at last - which will complete my little family.
On the down side my gorgeous dutch bantie was carried off by a fox whilst I was away. But his brother is looking for a home so he can be replaced.
I had half a mind to give up on the dutch banties as they are very small and vulnerable but bizarrely OH has warmed to them and is encouraging me to go and get Fred's brother. I think that there is hope that OH is succumbing to the bug and might begin to get really enthusiastic. I'm just trying not to notice the growing interest, in case i put him off.

I had the same with my oH, but he is now well into everyting and is now planning to set up a bee hive. Be patient it will pay off.! ;)

I do the same with my OH not commenting on his enthusiasm so i dont put him off! So im toying him with the subject of sheep now :P The "Id love 2 pigs" worked well an took hardly any pursuation, so mite get my Hebridians im longing for by this time next year ;D
