When he needs to go outside he goes to the backdoor but if we aren't in the kitchen he goes to the front door where there is a cat flap. He pushes the flap so that it acts like a door knocker to get our attention. He then waits for us to come down stairs and runs to the back door.
If we don't show up on the first 'knock' then the knocks get more frantic until he is let out.
What a good boy :dog:

Bless  :dog:
I had a cat would use the cat flap as a knocker if we were there - it saved him having to catch the end of his tail as the flap came down behind him!
He would also use the bell on his collar as a doorbell.
I had another cat spent an hour one morning experimenting with ways of going through the flap to find a way which didn't catch the end of his tail. He even tried holding the flap up with his back foot and swishing his tail through before dropping his foot.
Dumb animals? I don't think so!

Aww, what a clever boy
No animal is dumb however much dumb humans try to claim otherwise...
How about teaching your dog to ring a bell by the back door if he wants to go out!

We always keep our dogs outside, unless they're very small or very ill. Sounds like quite an intelligent dog. What breed is he?

I agree - no animal is dumb. Even sheep that many humans claim to be dumb are most certainly not. If humans think animals are dumb it is them that should wear the :dunce: hat.

WBF, he is a miniature poodle. I have never had poodles before but he is a delight. He has such a good nature and everyone loves him. :dog:

I have a friend who has put a doorbell low down on her back door, so when her dog wants to come in, he just rings his doorbell :)
