Hilarys Mum asked me to explain a bit about the Essex Pig Society in a recent thread ;D Sorry for the Delay.
What reminded me is that there are Essex Pigs being offered on the Marketplace thread at the moment. :o ;D ;D ;D
The pure bloodlines of the Essex are very rare, :o and there are a lot of experienced people involved in the Society, whom have been involved in setting up other societies and trusts for Rare Breeds and for Pig keeping herd book records.
The Essex Pig Society have a web site (under construction) of all the information on this breeds history, including people whom still breed pure Essex Lines. www.essexpigsociety.com
As some of you may know the British Saddleback is an amalgamation of two breeds, formerly the Essex and the Wessex breeds. :pig: :pig: ::)
There is more information on the site, and if anyone has any further questions or needs more information, please do not hesitate to contact me by PM. ;D ;D
