Title: self set leek grasses

I have some old leeks that I allowed to run to seed in order to collect next years seed. While picking the seed heads I noticed that some heads already have little leeks growing from the base of the seed pods. I transplanted 1 of these sed heads into some compost and they are growing well. My question is this...

Do I overwinter these grasses inside and transplant in spring or can I put them in the winter allium bed for an early crop next year?


If no-one knows i have enough to experiment both ways and work out which is best

I'm not by any means an expert (only growing leeks for the first time this year) but I think you can leave them outside to overwinter - leeks usually withstand frosts. I remember my Papa trying to pull them out of frozen ground, surrounded with snow.
I'd try some both ways though - just in case I'm wrong  ;)
