I have 4 hybrids one is a pure Sussex a blubelle and a daisy belle and black rock great laying strain wat rooster should I put to them to get good chicks that will lay my stock rooster is a big one he's more like a meat one good sized carcase can u still put him to the hens and get good laying chicks or will the rooster effect the chicks laying ability thanks

I've got my ex commercial hybrids running with Maran cockerels, the first set of chicks are 2 weeks old, so I'll let you know how they get on. I thought a Maran was a good meat and laying bird so couldn't go too far wrong putting them to my egg laying machines :)

It depends on what you intend to do with the hatching males. Any dual purpose breed will be good for eggs and give a decent carcass male but if it's eggs then go for something with known high egg yield such as the leghorn but I don't think the hatching boys would be worth keeping once you work out which ones they are.
Edited to say the Sussex and RIR are both breeds with high egg yield as well as good carcass and often used to produce hybrids so worth considering as well as the marans

how about a buryford brown type cockeral. its a specialised laying hybrid.
