Our Araucana hen is laying very brittle weird eggs with areas of nodular concretions which look like tiny balls or mite eggs? though I touched and examined with hand lense, they seem to be of calcium? why does she not use that for egg making? she is fine otherwise, just started laying this year and her eggs have been like this from the beginning (brittle and almost feels like they are still liquid when they come out and solidify or so the pattern on the then hardened shell suggest....). The tiny 'egg' things have only appeared over the last two weeks though...She is free range, feed layers pellets and seems to be in good spirits....any suggestions?
Thanks,
Chrissie.

I've seen it too over the last couple of weeks - been thinking I should put some more soluble grit out for them but no idea whether that really is the cause. Be interested to know what others reply.
