I'm Paul.
I live in Kent ( East Sussex border ) have been browsing the forum for a while and thought it's about time I introduced myself.
We moved from our house with 4 acres 18 months ago to our small holding of 27 acres mainly purchased for the 2 shires and a Clydesdale.
I currently have ...
2 labs
1 cat
A tortoise
20 chooks
7 runners
9 geese
3 heavy horses
3 light horses but will be leaving me
Purchased my first sheep this week from a friend. Wiltshire horns 2 ewes 5 lambs these will arrive at the end of the month when I finally have some stock fencing done ( been waiting months :-( ) then planning on 3 weaners later in the year.
Sorry to bore but I thought I should get it all in. Look forward to hearing all your great advise and I hope you can prevent me making any costly mistakes in the future

Hello & Welcome  I am a wannabee small holder.... I am working on a plan to become ££ safe (ish) by working from home before I take the leap into small holding also I am waiting on my sister to move to Scotland so we can run it jointly with our families.... But I am enjoying reading and learning from this website. :)

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum
A lot of seem to have lurked for a while before we joined the forum. It's a great place and the people on here have so much knowledge as I am sure you have already realised.
Good luck with your SmallholdingSmallholding

Welcome from Caithness. Everyone here is great - so helpful and supportive and best of all there will always be someone to tell you if an idea is a definite non runner or downright madness. Absolutely invaluable !

 and welcome from :cold: Shropshire. I grew up in Hastings so know your neck of the woods well. Lovely place to live. Wish I had some heavy horses (my OH loves them) but I don't think I could fit them in my garden, even if the goats moved out. :roflanim:

Hi from Kent as well! I'm guessing you're not too far away. If you need a decent fencer, I can recommend one & guess he'd travel down in your direction. Which breed of geese have you got? Hoping to hatch a few more this week (I've got West of England).

Hello and welcome Paul
The heavy horses sound great, do you show/work them?
-
Thanks for the welcome, sorry for the late reply :-/thanks Hester fencing is finally done and 7 Wiltshire's arrived yesterday :-) 2 2yr old ewes 3 ewe lambs and 2 ram lambs. Porkers will have to wait until next yr now as I wanted them gone by autumn.
I don't do a great deal with the horses other than pleasure driving, they will pull harrows but the little grey fergie is so much faster!!!! transport is a real issue with the big guys and I failed my HGV 4 times so gave up on ever being able to do much with them:-( Hester the geese are em den and African.

welcome from mid-Wales. Lovely to have Shires and CLydesdales. If I could I would have a Suffolk Punch.
I remember that Thelwell cartoon of the farm hand playing cards on the shire's rump on the way home from the fields
