:) did any one visit the show yesterday ? we had a very busy day there filled my freeze with some beef, got our selfs officially booked in for 2010 show season showing his pigs, taken orders for some pol layers oh and some shopping, all of which was sandwiched by bucket feeding 3 calfs,2 cows, 3 male goats, the 2 femals not at the show, 9 pigs & lost count of the chickens so a early start and late finish but well worth it.
i hope anyone that attended enjoyed it as much as we did :) :pig: :chook:

East of England Show
Sorry for the delay in writing this. We went to the show and was delighted with what we found. There were the usual stalls for the children and large carousel. The well stocked smallholders market sold all the usual delights, homemade cakes, pickles and jams, meats, cheese, large biscuits etc. The crafts were a bit thin on the ground; usual person selling paintings of local scenes. An interesting stall was a lady who knitted handbags and purses and then felted them. We then spent most of our time wandering around the chicken sale. There are some well weird looking birds out there. We are still trying to decipher who the father is of our babies....(usual problem). We spotted no bargains as they were all pure breed chickens and nearly all had a cockerel with them. We then wandered around the goat enclosure and saw very well cared for goats. All had food and water and most had their owners around to ask questions. We wandered around the sheep and talked to some ladies about their wool spinning. Had a look at the pigs and decided which one would fit in our freezer. We went back to the chicken sale and spotted 3 cuckoo Maram pullets (about 12 weeks old). Bided our time and got them for £45.00. (They were down for £60.00) I know you guys will not think of them as a bargain, but they looked cute and are the same colour as our other girls. On our way out, we were stopped by an official who asked for our sales slip, dully produced. We got talking and apparently one lady was stopped as she had 2 chickens stuffed down her jumper. Two youths were caught stealing as well. Our new little babies haven’t been accepted into the flock yet, but we are hoping it will be soon. As for Ron and Reggie.....they will be despatched this Saturday. Don’t know how I feel yet, will tell you after Sunday Roast. We will definitely be going again next year. Maybe to bring back a goat or two. Ros :cat: :chook:
