Title: How long should I wait for a triplet to come?
Post by: plt102 on May 03, 2014, 11:33:46 am
My Shetland ewe has just lambed a lovely set of twins, however I think I see another water bag so maybe my first set of triplets. Scary. How long should I leave her to see if it is a triplet or just afterbirth that hasn't come away yet. Also do I have to foster on a triplet or can mums sometimes cope? I'd like to interfere as little as possible

Hi there, I think I was disturbing her by hanging around so I have popped off for a bit of lunch to give her a bit of peace. The other two were up and suckling so I'll go back in an hour and see if she needs help.

Congratulations    They are lovely little mums :hugsheep: that usually manage all by themselves  ;D

Yep, I love them. So easy. I have a few GFD crossed with Shetland and had a few probs with them but never a problem with a Shetland ..... Touch wood :-)

All we did in our lambing session with the farmer was stick our arm in and feel around :) Unless that would be interfering too much!
