I had advertised Molly, the Sanaan x as dry, and not in kid. On Thursday, she suddenly looked even fatter than she usually does.....I was suddenly hit with the thought that yes, she may well be in kid. Friday, she bagged up.Saturday morning she went out to graze with the others - climbing the dry stone wall to get into the other field in the process!! Saturday lunchtime she had disappeared from the field. Looked in the field shelter, and there as pleased as punch was Molly with two kids, a male and a female.
Molly loves kids, and has been known to take over when first kidders seem not to realise their newborn needs drying and caring for. Molly is always on hand to help. I have only ever used the large pygmy male on her. I thought I had kept her in when she was in season, but a couple of times she escaped and got through to the male. I again, thought, I had got there in time to stop any hanky panky, but obviously not.
Oh, and its not the pygmy this time whose the dad, but he who has been busy with lots of his kids arriving this week ....Darren the AN. Kids are white, with brown head markings, and have Darrens ears......although I suspect Molly has AN in her, as she has brown head, and long ears, but they are not floppy. Anyway, Molly is in heaven caring for her babies.
