 My last one broody chick hatched yesterday (day 27!!!!').  This  21 days thing is just misleading for the novice! Luckily the hen wasn't counting and carried on sitting! Incy spread was day 22-25 ish.  I love chicks! Show us your pics if you can?

well in an hour and a half we went from a small hole to fully hatched, unfortunately or fortunately Mrs Broody who has been my best buddy for the last 3 weeks enjoying tickles and treats loves her new baby so much she told me in no uncertain terms to get lost and take my camera with me...

i was actually quite glad i dont speak chook cos her language was appalling!!!

1 baby hatched so far no more pipped will look again when everyone else is home so they get a peak before it gets dark...

will report back later/111

I know the feeling but from experience with puppies do leave her to it - she may go off either them or you.

Yay fingers crossed for lots more cheeping, preferably feminine ;)

I am wondering about a daytrip to Stirling area, maybe walk a field for sale on the way as I have permission.. ;)

Wonder where I might get a cup of tea and some entertaining baby chick(s) to peek at.. ;)

Any more cheeping?

I didn't make it over, too good an opportunity to be working in the garden when the weather was nice, and now it isn't I am less prone to spontaneous outings by car ::)

we have 3 total and she seems to have lost interest in remainder of the eggs so i'll stick with my origianal plan and remove the remaining eggs friday...

not sure of genders yet obviously...

although it could all start again soon as Mrs Maran no.2 looks like shes starting so if i can work out a second broody coop she can start sitting!!!

What breed is she? Looks a bit like my broody that I'm trying to find out about ( she came with the place).... Is there a metallic green shine to the feathers? I'd love to know...

hi shes a black maran she does have a green sheen to her feathers, if you had a maran it would be obvious as they lay dark brown eggs...

They are quite dark brown  ;D , not as dark as I've seen on internet pics, so maybe she is a mongrol.... But great mum, so all good.

My white bantam has started going broody just yesterday - I turfed her off 3 eggs last night and this morning she's there again but still laying her own so could be of use if you want to try a few more eggs under her either here or at yours.  I don't want bantie x CLx chicks and couldn't deal with cockerels but if it helps produce purebreed chicks for you (or someone else on here?) I'd gladly loan her out!
