My OH heard from someone that if you have pigs on your land you don't need to pay water rates! I can't believe for one minute that this is true, but he has been hounding me to ask this question to all you TASsers to see if any of you have heard of this very obscure olden days law!

:) new one on me my parents kept pigs over 20 years ago where mine are now kept they always paid the water rates and so did the pig farmer on the next farm. it would be nice to get something free from our local water board but i think not :( ;) ;)
-
Would be nice to stick two sausages up at Severn trent... but I've never heard that either
-
Might be worthwhile trawling the 'net though! Maybe a really old common law

My OH was told that it is some very old obscure law, but I can't imagine its true!
-
Might be on here - it's fun looking anyway ;) ;D

Doganjo, that link is ridiculas! Are any of those laws actually true? I doubt it! ;-)

I recognise a couple of those that are definately true
PLUS
It is illegal in Ireland to refuse anyone a glass of water, or access to water on your land.
and
It is illegal for a bartender to refuse to give you a glass of milk if you request it
and
Stealing Milk from someones doorstep has a very big penalty and is highly illegal.
According to what I have read and been told in the past ::)
