buy a humidity tester for about a pound?

You may find you don't need any water during the first 18 days Chrisnut (called running dry), humidity isn't an exact science because porosity of shells varies. Important you candle the eggs at stages and check the air sac development. Humidity is crucial during hatching and as Shygirl says, get a meter.

thx Chris and shygirl.... we have a humidity probe just didnt know if there was a way of regulating it witht he controls on the incubator or vents to open or close as we dont have an instruction manual... have checked online and it seems that its just a case adding water to the lower tray ..!!
