Title: Milking stand wanted
Post by: mariegold on April 11, 2014, 08:33:48 am
Hello! Does anyone have a milking stand that they no longer need and would like to sell? Been trying to milk without one, so many bruises (on me) for such little milk.
I'm in the Gloucestershire area. Many thanks.

We made one, using these plans:

Milking stand plans (http://fiascofarm.com/goats/milkstand.html).

It was easy to do and is an excellent, sturdy milking stand/restrainer - still going strong.

Same as Jaykay - I made my own. Its similar to the one in those plans, but without all the head restraint thing, just the stand/table bit. I then use a bucket hoop attached the wall to hold feed and there is a clip for their collars on the wall too but that's only really for when other people milk them - I don't tend to bother as they stay put for me.
It only took a couple of hours to knock something up and its served me well for the last couple of years - only modification I had to make was to cover the stand in chicken wire to give them a bit of grip!

Thanks all for the replies. Inverness is a bit too much of a trek but thanks anyway! My o/h is going to try and knock one up this weekend, should probably do it myself really.....

my milking stand is 4 breezeblocks and a piece of stirling board - cost pennies and works a treat
