Title: Ped Saddlebacks.
Post by: Ideation on April 06, 2014, 10:29:39 pm
I've just weaned a litter of pedigree saddlebacks from their mom.

Well, both parents are pedigree, but I will only be registering two boars and one gilt from the litter as they are well marked.

The gilt will be kept by me for breeding purposes.

So i'm left with two registered, pedigree saddle back boars, really well marked, strong pigs. And also, four pure bred saddlebacks (but only birth notified, rather than pedigree registered), which will either go now as weavers, or be reared on for the freezer / sale.

My question is, as i've only sold them as meat in the past, what price would you be expecting to get for 10-12 week old weaners (as above) and per registered saddle back boars (say 6-12 months).

Cheers.

Check out the saddleback breeders website, you will get some idea there or contact one of the Saddleback BPA breed reps, it really depends on supply in your area and what line the boars are.
