Soooorrry, one more question. I have read conflicting advise about how much to feed my two goats. I have been giving them about 900g of 15% protein goat concentrate a day plus loads of greens (kale, hawthorn, comfrey, carrots, ivy etc) and a constant supply of hay. Is this enough or too much? Should I be giving the newly kidded one a bit more? I read that you should be careful about feeding too much concentrates because of milk fever.
Ahhhh, I so want to get this right and have 5 goat books that each say different things! Can any one advise me? Thanks again x

Your quantities sound ok to me - you are right too much high protein straight after kidding can induce milk fever.
One other good thing to maybe introduce is sugar beet shreds, soaked in boiling water just before feeding, so they are still warm (not really wet though, just not dry if you get my meaning?)
