Title: Sweetcorn

I have had a great crop of most vegetables this year, except my sweetcorn.  They are large on the plant but when you pick them they are solid leaf and the corn still white in the middle.  Can anyone tell me if I should just persist or just pull them up as a lost cause?

Same here - I had 12 plants and so far they are still not tall and I only have two that look like they have any centres.  They aren't in the way so I'm just going to leave mine to see what happens.

Mine were poor too only got 5 decent cobs from a dozen plants. Just not enough prolonged heat/sun. Still some white cobs on the plants but I need the ground for autumn sown onions and garlic so they are coming out.

Mine are only just ripening now.   Leave them a while if you can.  It will be worth the wait, and watch out for squirrels!

Yes I think I will leave them a little longer. Squirrels?  I haven't seen a squirrel since I left the UK.  Do you think St Patrick chased them out with the snakes?
