Pity you're so far away. I shall have a young, proven GOS boar and a young sow in-pig with her first litter in a month or so.

Hi
I have a large black sow for sale, she has a good temperament and comes from Nocturne sow lines. However I think that it would be a long way to travel, because we are based in mid wales.
Thanks

Hopefully you'll be looking for more than one sow if you're considering keeping a boar. A 1:1 ratio isn't good.
Have you thought about thinking about different breeds you might like and then looking at the breed websites to see what breeders are near you? That might be a good starting point. It doesn't matter if you're not interested in pedigree breeding - what matters is that you find good breeding stock to start with. Good luck and feel free to message me if I can be of any help.

Unless you have someone like me near who keeps boars and hires them out, that way you could have 2 gilts/sows and then hire a boar for a few weeks, job done. Lot cheaper than keeping one and it's you that determines when you want piglets not the boar.
