Title: can chickens eat squash?
Post by: bloomer on March 23, 2014, 04:59:33 pm: always looking for new ways to enrich their pen are they allowed squash to peck at?

Post by: Louise Gaunt on March 23, 2014, 05:15:00 pm: I give mine overgrown courgette, they love it! I cut off some of the skin along the long side and they hollow it out, seeds and all, so squash should be ok.

it got attacked, then they gave up and went to bed, i'm sure they'll finish it tomorrow!!!

Post by: Q on March 23, 2014, 08:22:44 pm: Ours love courgettes and squashes as a treat - I just cut them in half - eventually i just have to pick up the outer skins - theres nothing else left of them.

Post by: chrismahon on March 24, 2014, 06:22:08 am: We have the same experience as Q. They eventually eat the lot leaving just the skins. I avoided giving them large seeds like pumpkins though as I was concerned about impaction.
