Sitting here with night temps down to -16C and 10 inches of snow a couple of days ago and wondered what G.B. is looking like now?
Everything is melting here as the temperature gets above freezing during the day. That is not a good sign. The forestry contractors need snow and frost for their machines to get into the forests. We have had two bad storms the last two years and by law the fallen trees have to be removed by from the area. There is a nasty bark beetle lurking in most of Sweden and we are desperately trying to keep it out of Jämtland.
So, everyone is hoping for more frost and snow but I think we will be unlucky. I remember when I moved here -it snowed on the 30 June .

We've had hardly any proper frost (or snow) this winter (NE Scotland, coast) - so I'm a bit worried about slugs and other nasties this year. At the moment it's sunny but cold; might get below 0 over night for a little while.
-
Yes, that is one advantage of long cold winters. We don't have so many weeds either so 80% of agriculture is ecological. Mind you, I think wicks can grow anywhere
It seems strange, I wouldn't be able to buy non- ecological hay- even if I wanted to !

West of Stirling its :raining: :raining:
Forecast snow in high places tomorrow, more rain and wind. OH had big plans for the allotment tomorrow I think we should turn one of the raised beds in to a fish pond
-
we are having beautiful weather in Aberdeenshire. sunny most days.
-
It can't make its mind up here at the mo. Warm in the sun, then a vicious cold wind with stinging hail... Typical lambing weather ::)
-
It can't make up its mind here either. It was lovely and sunny, even though the wind was cold this morning. An hour after I hung the washing out, it was pouring with rain. An hour after that it was sunny again and so it went on.
-
Snowing here, and very grey :-\
-
The weather in our wee bit of the Scottish Borders (in the Cheviot Hills) is very strange. It was beautiful yesterday morning, then it snowed and everything was white for quite a while. By bed time it was torrential rain, and this morning glorious sunshine again.
-
Cold here today. It was sunny first thing but we've had cold wind and rain on and off all day. It's just brightening up a bit now.
-
We didnt get the weather that was forecast. Just as well as OH was a tad ambitious this morning and what started out as chore that would take about a couple of hours took nearly all day - and most of tomorrow (with the help of a neighbour with a tractor) ::)
-
We had thick snow this morning and minus 3 deg I actually had to go into 4WD to get up the hill
snow showers off and on most of the day but as the temperatures raised the snow has melted
Just hope its clear in he morning as we have to take the trailer out
-
I hope it doesn't come down here! The forecast is for ok temperatures for the next few days - around 7C - but -1C tomorrow night. What happened to spring?
-
freezing here but sunny. it keeps trying to snow.
-
. What happened to spring?
Yes, i had hoped I would hear some cheery stories about sunny spring days and hectic activity in the garden :gloomy:
You see, I never get home in the Spring- too busy with lambing so I had forgotten what it is like.
-
Sunny yes - but freezing wind!
Still, I have been pricking out today... But leaving the seedlings nicely in the house for now.

Winter, what winter. It's been remarkably mild though horrifically wet. Luckily where I am it doesn't flood and we didn't have the quantity of rain that some parts of England suffered.
The sea temp remained at 9 - 9.5 C but has just dropped this week to below 9 for the first time. The good news is that it should pick up again during April. I hope so anyway.
Maybe it can snow next year when I have my atv and ice tyres for my bike. Think it will be fun to get out and hack. Much prefer the summer though and really looking forward to it. :)
