Any ideas what can be wrong with my duck ?She went out this morning great and ive just checked just now and she cant even stand or walk at all .Ive never seen this before and ive not changed her diet
-
I had one that was like that - I was told it was a stroke - I'm not sure if ducks can have
stroke; dogs canhave what is called vestibular incidents which give the same symptoms so it could be that. My duck rolled into my burn and drowned. :'(

Their legs are very weak, and I have had them strain a leg, after a day or two they have been fine, but does she look normal in other ways, or does she look ill?
-
thanks for the replys, she looks perfect and not ill at all
this morning she was perfect and tonight just sitting ,ive checked her and no external marks or damage

Ok, just keep an eye on her, and don't let her near water where she could drown. If her legs are weak she possibly wouldn't be able to stay afloat.

I've had several ducks off their legs. Mostly it's been a strain so I've just kept them quiet for a while. One young one had an infection on her knee (or whatever joint it is half way down their leg) and required antibiotics. One older one gradually went down hill and was finding it hard to move around. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her legs so I suspect it was something more dramatic - or just old age - either way she went down hill over a few weeks until she couldn't move at all and I eventually dispatched her. Duck leg problems has certainly been the only issue I've had with any of the waterfowl (to date - touch wood).

I read somewhere worms can take ducks off their feet Kipper, although I have very little experience of ducks myself so can't confirm that. So if she hasn't been wormed perhaps that's the problem?

Great news Kipper! Isn't it awful when you don't know what is wrong and don't know what to do, but isn't it great when nature works her magic.
