Post by: langdon on September 26, 2009, 05:18:12 pm
eddie seems to be really getting back to himself one relieved chicken lover  ;D he is still mating as usual so dont know why he lost his voice my guess is cold drafts at night through the coop door i now have covered the door with old carpet- result no cold drafts at night i think he had cold i hope this might help someone with samiliar problem my present project is making a farm gate out of our own tree wood i dont expect perfection!! for me the beauty in smallholding is the practicality of thing i love to keep things simple and if they do the job thats fine for me!!!!!  so i will let ye know how me gate is getting on, happy smallholding p.s. guinnea pigs arriving next week!!!! we just loving animals so much since making the move to the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad Eddie's all better & you're enjoying your country life.
But, I wouldn't have opted for guinnea pigs - not enough eating on them  ;) ;D ;D ;D

The other day I made my compost bin from some olde picket fence and rotten (rot chopped off!) floor joists. It looks fab. You don't need to spend a fortune.

The 'gate'for my chook run is the step ladder from my children's bunk beds!! They have new beds now!!! I think it looks fab. And I did it all by myself. One up for the girlies!!!

Great to hear that, Janette.  Girl power rules, OK!!

I made my own raised beds when I built my previous house.  Haven't quite got round to that here yet - but watch this space.  The one my son and I made here last year is too low to the ground and I can't bend down any more.
