I know I'm very sad, but the very first scene had me spitting, "But this is supposed to be in 'Wessex' and those are Swaledale sheep and North Country Mules!!"  ::)

(I won't let it stop me watching the rest of it.  My Aussie cousin said she couldn't watch The Piano because of the howling geographical and historical inaccuracies, and what had I thought of the film?  I said I thought it was one of the most powerful movies I had ever seen. ;))

The film version was beautifully done apart from Julie Christie as Bathsheba making it look a little dated now, the cinematography was brilliant as were the rest of the cast, so this has a lot to live up to.  Looks good though in the bit I just saw.

Always love a good Thomas Hardy.

The new version was filmed last year and the location for Bathsheba's farm is where I work.  It was amazing how they transformed the place.  At least they used local sheep this time even if the cornflower and wisteria flowers were plastic :roflanim: .  Can't wait for the release later this year.
You may remember the casting director asked for extras through TAS ;)
