In the case of an absentee landlord dying with no will left, what are the tenants rights?

In terms of the crofters tenancy I don't think it should make any difference who the landlord is, where he lives or who he is.
A croft tenancy is secure so no landlord can end that tenancy or evict them or change the terms of the tenancy (unless the crofter is way behind with their rent paid or the Crofters commission decides they are not using the croft - both of which are pretty unlikely).
