My wife and I have just moved into north Cornwall from the west midlands, we have three acres of heavy clay pasture at the moment which has a fair number of young trees planted, we are recently retired and are open minded in how we use the land, would be interested in hearing from anyone in the Holsworthy, Launceston, bude area who has similar situation.

Hello and welcome Peter.
I'm not far from you between Bradworthy and Woolsery.
You're welcome to pop over and see what we've done here.

Hello! A lovely part of the world! I grew up in St Austell and parents are still down near Bodmin but somehow I ended up in the flat fens of East Anglia where we also have heavy clay soil.
Best thing we've done to the soil for improving it for veg was getting the goats. They produce loads of straw and muck from the stables which, when rotted down, really helps lighten the soil and make it a bit more workable.
