Yahhhhyyyyy..... just seen the northern lights. Not the most earth shattering display but deffo the lights. There was just a lightness in the northern sky at first and I thought I was kidding myself. But then it must have clouded over by the horizon and you could see light flashlight of green (though very pale) shooting up from behind the cloud bank
Great.
I think its over as its looking more cloudy, but I shall go for another look. Up by Lock Watten at present just below Thurso and John o Groats

Wonderful, aren't they? I'm so glad you saw them. I saw them on Isle of Arran some years ago. It was like standing under a dome of coloured lights pouring down around me. I shall never forget it.

You're very lucky! We lived in Sweden for four years and went up to the North on two midwinter trips with hopes of seeing them - nowt! Fortunately plenty else to do but it would have been the icing on the cake as we sat at the bar of the ice hotel....

That's great, we have seen them here a couple of times. Like you not the best display in the world but a lot more than others can see

Lucky you! Photos never do these wonderful sights justice - better to just enjoy them :)
Are you going to Orkney?
-
Hi, been following your journey from here in Aberdeenshire with interest. Think you are amazing for the way you overcome all the hurdles along the way. For a slightly younger person starting to suffer from arthritis (me) you are an inspiration. Have a wonderful time on the islands, I will look forward to hearing about it.

Well, if you get the wrong ferry and end in Norway, come across and enjoy the lights with me ;)

I would love to visit your neck of the woods. Can't see it happening but I can dream.

I am sorry to have pinched brown eggs topic :-[
I love the area I live in and I also its' remoteness. As I say , Visitors are welcome. I am not lonely but I am not overrun by guests. My farm is so difficult to get to, the people who do come really have to make an effort
