Having spent the last year or so trying to take control of a few acres of previously set-aside land, I have become haunted by bad weather. I don't mean the weather has been horrible, it's just that I need the right weather for whatever I am going to do. The problem is that it always seems to be doing something else!
When I want to break up the surface and need some rain - there is a drought. But if I want to trim the weeds - it rains without end.
It would help if I could find a good weather forecast looking about 1-2 weeks ahead. The national/local TV ones tend to be too short term as they only look 2-3 days ahead at best and then aren't very reliable.
As my field is in an exposed position, I have found this web site quite good on the forecast wind speed but less useful on the amount of rain:-
http://www.xcweather.co.uk/
If you click on an arrow, it opens a forecast for the wind speed and on the second click, the rainfall/temperature. It's based on airfields and airports which is OK for me as my land is near an RAF base but might not suit everyone.
I've been using this web site for general weather forecasts:
http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/
and it gives a range of useful information such as monthly reviews of actual weather (e.g for August) as well as forecasts for several future periods (a week, a month, etc.).
I wondered if anyone had any other sources of good weather information. I've tried the Met Office and the BBC web sites without finding them much use. The Met Office may sell a good service but I can't afford to pay.

I can't remember the number or waht it was called but my late husband (a mountain leader) used to telephone a mountain and hill weather service. Perhaps you could try googling it?
