Title: Ducks not laying
Post by: Kitchen Cottage on February 21, 2014, 06:41:48 am
2 summers ago I got 5 Indian Running Ducks through an advert on here.  They belonged to an old man who died.

I now have 4 and Mr Fox ate a good meal last year September time.

They haven't laid since last year.

I don't know how old they are,  I've given them a good clean, wormed them and they look in good condition.

I don't think they are siblings because 2 seem a large type than the other two.

How long would you give them to come back on lay?

I do love a duck egg with soldiers!

Mine have only just started laying again the last couple of days so I wouldn't worry yet.

MY last lot pre fox attack started laying mid March - they were khaki Campbell and Swedish blue/KC crosses.  My IR/KC crosses are almost 9 months old and haven't started laying yet.

I think the older they get, the later into the season they start. I've certainly got some that aren't laying yet.

Mine started again in Dec then stopped and still aren't laying now. I'm hoping the weather and daylight improving may kick start things again

My 2 started New Year's Day & not missed a day so far...but they are very young (had scrambled egg & salmon for lunch) Hope they start laying soon!
