Tree Tops Farm Somerset is having to reduce their cattle numbers due to the weather and ground conditions ... and fast. They are going for meat if not sold. I found this on Shetland facebook page if anyone is interested .... am trying to pursued myself I've no room for more!!!!!!!
-
Linda, you know you DO have room for more ;D

The owner should contact SCBA - if she has any exceptional bloodlines, they may be able to help. It would be a shame if any particularly good genetics were lost to the breed.

I'm very tempted, but I'm still at the daydreaming phase re: cow ownership - don't have a single book on the subject, let alone read one.
luckily I don't own a suitable trailer or vehicle to tow such trailer, so I can't be tempted into cow ownership just yet.

Sorry MAB ... no transport id not an excuse ..... can be delivered!

;D OK, but not knowing how to look after them is.
just hypothetically: are these tame cows? - i.e. if I'm looking for a house cow & calf but don't have any cow handling equipment or experience.

Were bred for just that. Good meat too. A great breed ... but obviously the individual temperament varies.... and they eat rushes!!!

It is mainly equine but has various rare breeds too. Has several Shetland cows with calves, and 2 bulls for sale. All in good condition. I'm intending to purchase a mother and daughter.
