Title: Amber Alert for Aurora Watch for tonight
Post by: darkbrowneggs on February 19, 2014, 01:51:12 pm
Since I joined this months ago I have heard nothing from them and thought perhaps it wasnt running properly, but tonight there is an amber alert.  So if you are anywhere with a dark sky it might be worth keeping the curtains drawn back tonight.

Thank you, I didn't know that existed and have signed up now.

Would love to see the Northern Lights, this can only help (can't see us making a special trip north in the near future!).  :)

Don't think I have much chance where I am parked up at present as there are too many lights in the distance.  The lady who lives here says she hasnt seen them in the thirteen years they have lived here, though one evening about 2002 other folk saw them at teatime.

I have missed a calm day for sailing and now I think more winds are promised, but one of the Aurora sites says often around the time of the equinox it good - the problem with that is the nights are shorter so less chance.

Stuck waiting for part for scooter now!!!!

Saw them when I was in the Arctic Circle about ten years ago.  Like looking up at the hem of a giant green curtain billowing in the wind.  A long-held ambition fulfilled!

Lived here for almost 20 years now and always missed it - either it was cloudy or I was asleep ....more chances now with the alert!  :&>
