Title: goats meat
Post by: Dogwalker on February 16, 2014, 10:20:57 pm
Has anyone sold any recently and what did you charge?

I've got three going soon and need to sell some but looking online brings up a wide range of prices.   What's the going rate?

Yes we have sold some and have 2 going soon. we charge £120 for a full . It is a bit cheaper than what I have  seen it advertised locally for though but we tend to sell mainly to friends

I had an 8mnth old castrated Togg, so not very big, no room in the freezer and didn't see the point in feeding him any longer, a friend said he got 4.40 a kilo, slaughterman said wholesale price was £5.50 a kilo, liveweight he was just under 30kg. I advertised it on a local group at £5 a kilo  for half, + £5 per side for jointing, but it wasn't individually packed, just jointed and in 2 big plastic bags. It was sold within an hour. I collected from slaughterhouse and delivered straight to customers. (kept liver etc for ourselves, rich liver and onions - lovely).
I'd decided on balance I was better getting him away quick rather than asking for more and having to keep him longer.
