Can anyone tell me the price of seed potatoes in the UK?
In France they are 6-7 € for 5 kg. and I need a few packs. Since I am going to the UK next month and being curious I wonder if they are cheaper in the UK.

Just paid £3 for
10kg at the allotment assoc shed on Saturday. Not sure about the shops locally.
Edited to change the 10 to 3.5kg ::) hope you haven't read the first post attempt MAK :D

D. T. Browns are 1.5 kg a pack @ mainly £4.75 for 1 pack , or £3.80 for 3 or more .
A few are £4.45 and £3.56 , and some are £4.95 and £3.96 .
Not cheap .

I usually get mine at a trade price and i aim for about £1 per kilo. I could get this down if i had more because I used to order for a few people but it became a bit of a nuisance.
For a guaranteed order they prefer to receive the order in November.

comparing the price of seed potatoes with the cheap price of potatoes after last years excellent cropping meant I couldn't justify paying out for seed potatoes this year. For the amount I planted and the work involved I'd have just as well bought them in.
This year i'm planting some of last years excess crop instead of buying seed

£19 for 25kg sack but I bought through a garden centre who added it to their order and they paid the carriage (which was £45)

thanks all - Last year i used the previous years spuds rather than buy seed.
I'll buy them here as all the supermarkets, garden centres etc have a price war going on. The local speciality here is potatoe pie and there is a great range and selection on sale. I'm going for Mona Lisa this year.
we have Collarado beetle so I need to get some virgin land ploughed over by my neighbour and plant the spuds there.
Charlotte are 21€ for 25 kg

Does anyone know how much a half hundredweight sack should cost from a producer?
in fact, can anyone suggest a reputable grower in the Banff, Turriff, Huntly or Keith areas?
