i have a 10 month old girl just given birth 36 hrs ago, complete suprize didnt realize billy had got anywhere near her, her and her sister did used to get out of paddock when littler and we let them run around concrete part of yard they used to enjoy jumping around over things, the only thing i can think of is she jumped into the billys pen, like i said complete suprize when we found her in labour, she gave birth to a little boy, needed a little help cause he big she small, was very tired afterwards, rallied round ok, feeding little one fine, 36 hrs later gone off food and water and looking a bit out of it any suggestions. will be getting hold of vet but wondering if i can help her in meantime.

Milk fever - make sure she eats - hay and soaked shreds dusted off with bran, no proteins like mix or anything until she has stabilised. Get some Calciject into her QUICKLY - she is far too young to kid, especially if she hasn't been fed accordingly. What are you going to do with the kid? If he is a boy? I would be tempted to take the kid off the dam, dry her up and make sure she continues to grow, but this all depends on how big she is already.
Are you sure the afterbirth has come out properly? If she needed assistance I would think it best to get a longacting antibiotic into her asap too.
If you are unsure about what to do get her to the vet asap - he can inject Calcium into the vene for a quicker action.

Defo milk fever...............may have to have calciject intravenously to start with but that is a VET job.
You do not have time to waste...........this situation is a big emergency if you are to save her.

Exactly what the others have said, act asap.

Give 60 ml twin lamb glycerol too to give her some energy

Hiya hope the vet been...any animal down honey always good to give, gives energy to fight infections. Molasses after kidding to, helps to replace minerals. Hope she's ok.

Calciject. Quickly. If you know a farmer locally they may have some and be prepared to do it. Vet otherwise.
Then get some food/twin lamb drench into her.
Readybrek (not too warm) with lots of sugar in is good.
You do need to get help soon because if they go 'down' too far it's hard to rescue them, ketosis kicks in and it's difficult to turn them around. Goats can die of this, as many of us know.

Calcijet - needs to be done in small injections otherwise hurts like crazy, vet suggested 2/5ml at a go - up to recommended dose. Also, vet can give oral calcium for drenching, again a small squirt at a time to back of mouth.

thanks everyone, vet came and gave her calcium, antibiotics and vitamins, seems a little brighter this morning, leaving little one with mum but giving top up bottles, she already has a strong bond with him, hopefully fingers crossed she will pull through, thanks for your advice and thoughts, thanks carol.
