Title: tups back in together
Post by: kelly58 on February 14, 2014, 07:25:46 pm
Could anyone tell me the best way to reintroduce my tups  back in the paddock together. They have both been with ewes, in there own paddocks.l was advised by the farmer to put them both together in a small enclosure so they cant butt each other, leave them for 2 hrs or so then when they have got each others smell on them rather than the ewes l can let them  run together. Is this right. Want to get it right because l have seen the damage they can do  when they attack each other :-\

Yeah its a bit of a shame when they kill each other, I pen them tight (clarify - very tight), leave them there until they are firmly hungry and then turn them out

I pen them very tight, if one moves round they all move round, for a few days. They have water and hay in racks but no hard food.I have five senior rams in one field and four junior rams in another field. Penning them tight works for me.
