What a scare I had this morning! You should see the speed these brats run at, and no brakes either - well I think Freckles ran into a tree in the back garden. Just one short squeak and she came rolling and tumbling/half walking/half crawling at great speed out of the trees right into my leg. She had no control over her legs and was obviously worried but seemed to know where she was as she obeyed my command to stay while I put Belle back in her kennel. Then she tried a few times to get up and was running around with her legs splaying under her. I felt her all over but she didn't seem to be in pain, except a wince when I touched her head. I saw a wee cut/graze above her eye - not big enough to need stitching, so checked with Ian my vet about concussion. He said to just keep an eye on her and bring her over if I was at all worried. Ten minutes later she was running around almost normally, rushed into her kennel and started eating her breakfast I've taken both the girls into the conservatory for the day to watch her, but so far she seems almost back to normal. What a worry!

Our two lack anything in their heads to get damaged.

I have a border collie who runs everywhere and will do back flips for you if you throw the ball. Anyway I was out for a walk in the woods one day and picked the ball up to throw into a clearing, the dog (minty) turned and at full pace ran in the direction of the ball totally ignoring the fact that there was a tree in his path, well you can guess there was a thud and minty lying on the floor for a couple of seconds he then jumped up and ran after the ball. The ball was back at my feet before I had time to say 'mind the tree'. That day confirmed the theory that he has nothing inside that iron skull of his. My friend wanted to train him to work with sheep, but to be honest if it isn't ball shaped and can be thrown he has no interest in it.

Thankfully, Freckles seems to have no ill effects apart from the cut on her eyebrow which seems to be healing already. She has however enjoyed her day lounging in the conservatory, having a late but leisurely breakfast, and a drink of milk and honey.(http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Winks/ok-wink.gif)

Hope she gets well soon ;D

Well she's back to barking at the corner of the run because she can't see me so I think she's OK. I'm waiting for my son to take me up to Aberdeenshire to collect my old dog runs so I can give the girls a bigger run nearer the house so they can see me. We have a loan of next door's trailer, just need Donald to have some free time.
I'm lucky to have my dogs. they give me a lot of pleasure.

My kennels are quite large so there's room for more certainly (http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Happy/happy-038.gif). Downies to sleep on, a heater overhead, lights and the radio on a timer, a chewy treat every time you go out for a run then go back in on command, half hour free running and half hour road walk every day, meals served on time, floors swept and mopped every morning, plenty to drink.(http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Happy/happy-holidays-030.gif)
