I cant thank Bionic and somewhere-by-the-river enough for helping in in this afternoon's emergency.... my hen and duck houses flattened completely by a whole row of fir trees which had made such a great environment for the poultry enclosure. . amazingly out of the impenetrable mass of tree branches and trunks came all 6 hens and 4 out of 5 ducks :excited: Just one lost duck which we couldn't find anywhere.
I hope you all are Ok

Whew! That was very lucky. We just noticed the bolts holding one of the roof beams in the lambing shed had loosened due to flexing in the wind so my son shinned up the ladder while I stopped it blowing over and handed up tools. Nothing left to do now but to cross our fingers and remember to check the torch batteries are OK.

Wow, lucky escape. Stay safe :fc:
-
Phew, glad you're OK. Hopefully Ducky will turn up :fc:

You couldn't even see the poultry enclosure underneath the trees but the ducks and chickens that have survived look a strong bunch. They should be safe enough in their temporary home for the time being.
Lots of clearing up still to be done though :(
-
Well done all, pleased most of the birds survived. The other one may still appear yet :fc:
On my journey north I have seen sections of woodland just flattened and trees broken in half up to about a quarter of an acre of even more, and lots of fallen and broken trees.
-
Woo, nasty. Glad most of your birds escaped unscathed. Shame the hen house didn't as well.
Are they your trees? Lots of firewood?

Lucky escape for your chooks!
When I went out for the afternoon feed round, I only found half of a pig ark - located the other half 50m away in a hedge. Fortunately we'd moved the girls out of that field on Saturday as it was getting so muddy so no harm done. Close shaves all round!

 Kaz ... and I feel awful about one duck lost? Don't blame yourself, I'm trying not to! Did struggle to sleep when I realised The time of day my trees came down was when I would normally have been out feeding them in the enclosure....

Sorry to hear about your lost duck, very pleased the others made it. We had a very tall fir tree go over too, onto next doors barn, fortunately the call ducks that lived in it were all fine :relief:
Kaz, I'm so sorry to hear about your sheep and alpaca

Hope things are looking a bit brighter this morning Linda, you too Kaz, sorry to hear about your animals.
Bionic - glad to see you are online and that your electricity is back. Can you believe ours went down again literally as soon as we got in the door?! ...Fortunately back now (don't think I can stand any more enforced fish and chip suppers). The storms have been tough for all - my thoughts are with anyone who has been suffering with them (enough is enough now, time for spring!).
Linda - we're just a call away... Still think Monday's meet should be a 'bring a saw' party ;)
Take care all and if you have the strange bright thing in the sky for once as we do here - enjoy!
A x
