Good news, I got my first Maran egg from the 2 girls i kept from the ones i brought to Scotland from Darkbrowneggs.
Bad news, one of my 2 cream legbars i kept from the same trip, was a bit sluggish yesterday and overnight just fell off her perch, typically it was the better looking of the 2 as well...
But yay i got a Maran egg....

Congrats on the maran egg :trophy: :trophy:

We had urban friends and their children staying one year when a batch of chicks was hatching... they were astounded that my (Maran type) chicks were black and fluffy... and not yellow and fluffy... :)
PS.: The wee cockerel I got from you is doing fine and as he is in with the young ones (they just started laying recently) he is taking his job :-J quite seriously... My daughter has named him Laurie.

Still in Maran envy, so post the picture and I can at least say I know someone who has a brown egg ;)

If you find a source, please can I add to your order.. :eyelashes:
Of course if you find some land for yourself you can get one of the boys back on loan and produce an entire DBE bloodline on demand, clearly there is demand.. ;)

the hunt for land is on south of the river, my aim currently is a house with a large garden and a more serious chicken enterprise...
