Title: Shetland tails!
Post by: Hillview Farm on February 09, 2014, 09:00:19 pm
Sorry about this question, I am sure some of you are going to roll your eyes at this question.

Do you dock Shetlands tails or left all natural? Mine have wooly trousers on and I can't actually see the length!

Thanks all!

Shetlands are born with short tails :)  so no need to ring

They arent extremely short but much shorter than other breeds :)

Photo below is of a group of my shearlings, you can just about make out tails!

This is correctly Shetland tails are naturally the perfect length and shape to protect the bits that need protection but not so woolly that they attract blowflies. No need to do anything to them at all.

We have Shetlands no need to dock they have a sort skinny fluke tail which is very neat and doesn't get mucky.
