Title: Business card help
Post by: Bert on February 07, 2014, 09:45:58 am
I'm thinking of having some business cards made up. I'm having a few problems with the wording.
At the moment the card is going to be the size of an A4 sheet, which is a little impractical  :roflanim: .
So can can I pick the brains of some of you much cleverer people please
OK so this is what I have so far:

Bert's Home Grown Veg
 Email address
Phone number

Vegetable & herb plants
Can be grown to order

Here is what else I want to say:
Vegetable & Herb plant will be available weather you pr order or not. Dose the above say that already ? I'm not sure that it does?
Fruit & vegetable , but how can I convey not to expect a market stall with loads to choose from as I don't know how well things are going to crop and I don't know how much is going to fit in my freezer ( me first, me first  :-J )
I was going to put Fruit & Vegetables  available at times. But that doesn't sound very professional
Also want my free range eggs in there as well.
Any help more than welcome. The sun has just come out so I'm off to do a photo shoot for my card

Vistaprint do free ones for the price of p & p - http://www.vistaprint.co.uk/vp/ns/studio3.aspx?pf_id=B70&combo_id=1027055 (http://www.vistaprint.co.uk/vp/ns/studio3.aspx?pf_id=B70&combo_id=1027055)
Mostly sounds Ok but don't use weather - it should be whether.  How about this tidied up version?

The only thing missing is your website , go to http://www.webs.com (http://www.webs.com) and build your own free one just a basic page will allow you to print all the blurb you want.

Happy to help if required, and also recommend you try Vistaprint freebies to start with, I ended up with multiple sets as I said way too much (no comments please!) and then changing the priorities meant I needed more..

Great fun to do and you can save drafts for later, change backgrounds and styles too ;)  Hours of entertainment!

If these are to be business card sized then you don't want too much crammed in there.
I would put the contact details at the bottom in smaller print and yes, set up a website.
I think you need to include where you are too unless you intend mail order only.

Bert's Home Grown Veg  (plus where you are)

Beautiful free range eggs, veg and herbs for sale at gate

Vegetable & herb plants
In season or grown to order - check website for availability

"We use no chemicals"

Email address
Phone number
website

Even that's too much for a business sized card.  How about an A5 size, folded in three?  You could get a couple of goodsized pics on that, or have a veggie background.  Easy enough to print off yourself for the cost of a few colour cartridges.
Or a double sized business card - they are available somewhere.

Thanks everyone
That's all been very helpful. I really like the web site idea. Vistaprint was going to be my first stop. Once I'd decided what picture & wording was going on it. Didn't really want one of the pre designed ones.

With Vistaprint you can play around with the wording until you are happy with it and you can do reverse as well although you will have to pay for that. You can either use one of their templates for a picture or use your own, although this will cost. They also do postcard sized cards, which I've had and brochures.

Just be careful if you use one of their templates. I chose one for my home tutoring business of - what I thought was - an adult and child sitting at a table looking at a book together. When the brochures were sent to me, what I had actually picked was one of mother and child sitting on a bed, with the child in bed - obviously bedtime story. Not quite the image you want to persuade someone you are the right person to be left alone with their child.  :roflanim:

Once you've ordered from them (and I think it's only the business cards that are P&P only) you will get regular emails offering all sorts for free (just P&P). Even their start up prices aren't bad.

I get daily emails from vistaprint as other half has ordered from them before. Annoying as that my be they are still the place to go. If I do get some cards done I will post a picture for you all to see. As you were all very helpful with ideas  .

We use Vistaprint too.  They are very good (apart from the constant emails after!) and you can order a range of other things from them (we had an Its Baaath Time mug ;-)  )
