Title: Help with VW Camper AGAIN please!!!
Post by: sandy on September 14, 2009, 02:51:25 pm
It's getting a bit boaring now, my beloved VW has been off the road for 2 years, it runs fine but needed an MOT 2 years ago, took it to a gargage that did nothing then sent it to another garage, now he is/has done something but work still needs doing....I am now at a loss where to have it transported to as the breaks are half done so now un drivable!!!!!!!! I am in Clackmannan, the VW in Bonny Bridge so ANYWHERE near that WILL carry out the MOT and the repairs needed, again, some welding  ....my goodness I am fed up, I shall have it back when I am too old to drive the thing and no way are we selling it >:( >:( I know I was given some phone numbers before but not sure where they are on this site.....so, I want a garage, withing reasonable driving distance and used to old VW's and can do welding and mechanical work...Thanks in anticipation :(

Sandy, my local garage, Mayfiled Autos, will be able to help. It's two blokes, Stewart and Stevie, 07736931794 and they are in Kelliebank in Alloa. I spoke to Stewart just now and he said they woudl be able to help. They are dead reliable and used to dealing with me who says things like "it's making a funny noise".

Give them a call - I'm sure they will be able to help. And if you're down at the garage, you can pop along for a coffee.

will do thanks, just spoke to the lad with the VW, he is going to finish off the bits of mig welding then it will need towing to where it needs to get MOT'd it would be great if it were near, I did not send it to Bonny bridge in the first place the local garage did, so now the breaks are not working  so it will need to be towed......I am soooo patient but sometimes!!!!!! not much that I can do really, and of course, now it is multi coloured due to all the bits welded onto it!!! one day!!!!!P.S hope your back is improving, one of the worst things to have!!!! off to Youth Club now ;)work !!!

Good Luck Sandy!  How frustrating to have such a wonderful vehicle and then not be able to enjoy it!  Whilst it is with Rosemary's garage go for a coffe and discuss curtain material e.t.c. for it!  Be positive - it will get sorted!

I would love that, at the moment they are smart grey velor!! although green gingham brings back memories of my secondary school sewing lessons, I never did make my first year apron, ended up unpicing it and sewing it up again and again, still no good at sewing, but it is easy as you can follow the squares!!

I shall ring Mayfield on Monday and book Bumble (VW) in for an MOT....after nearly three years it will be good to get her back...they are going to charge us much less than first priced for as (1) they haven't done the machanics only the body work and (2) they feel guilty after haveing it sooooooooooooooooooooo long!!!

Whenwe get it back I shall do a lap of Clackmannanshire in it and shall expect hoards of people with flags waving us on ;) ;) Seriously, I have had VW Campers for about 12 years and they always bring joy to others, my first Barbie pink and I used to carry a water pistole to spray out of the window (gently) to anyone who made a face at the traffic lights (would be classed as assult now) I also played 70 Happy  music really load when I drove the youth Drama group around or Foster children...then I bought a red one, fantastic interior, I had a converse Blue star put on the sides to match my converse shoe box!!! I used to travel everywhere in that, keeping a tent in the back for anyone we picked up!!!! Then we bought this yellow one with a black roof, therefore Bumble Bee!!! i put a smiley face wheelcover on it and people always smiled when they saw it...one young man with learning difficulties always liked to look at the VW on his way to and from School, his mum said he was very  upset when we took it away to the garage, another young lad shouted "look, a holiday bus!" so you see...much more than just transport! and the only car that will be worth more than we bought it for!!!!!Roll on VDUB
