Im so sorry to hear that, poor sheep, poor you, horrible horrible thing.  These people make me furious.  Here they were taking substantial flocks recently, they do it with dogs and also with the electric fence netting -  group of people walk behind the sheep herding them in holding the net. Sick.

I've set up a wildlife camera there this morning catch the buggers next time! Spoke to the farmer who rents the field across the road he has lambs in there on turnips he says he think he may have had a few taken....

I wonder if setting up fake security cameras in obvious places might help?

I have wildlife cameras set up there now which take picture with movement. Nothing but birds so far haha! Just a question if the people who stole them re tagged them could they just go into a licensed slaughter house? Id rather that to be honest.....

So sorry  to hear you have lost sheep,  We had a strange van parked twice at the bottom of the drive where the Ryelands are and it drove away as we went down so have moved ours up next to the house, less grass but safer

I know how you feel. We lost a livestock trailer and a tankfull of diesel a few months ago and this morning I've discovered one of our fence energisers and it's battery have been taken. the plod have no chance of finding the culprits unless someone has seen them.

Sokel please don't tell me it was a metalic blue transit van with a roof rack as I've seen this van 3 times over the weekend and was a bit suspicious of its speed going past the sheep !!!

No this was a white transit van with a black patch on the side where they had obviously painted over a name or something

If i see a dodgy van around, I run the number plate through the 'webuyanycar' type websites - you will usually find its not recorded as a transit or tipper that its attached to.

The problem is the police really dont give a monkeys.

we have also had a solar energiser pinched this year after the local hooray henrietta decided to advertise the footpaths through our field.  >:(

We've just joined the club too.  On Thursday night someone slaughtered our best GFD ewe in the field and removed her over the fence into a van.  She was pregnant with twins and really friendly so too easy.  The others are all much harder to catch.

Of course she'll make a terrible carcass since she's all lamb and not much ewe but the thieving bastards wouldn't know or care.

They left tracks and some stuff behind so we've had both the police and SOCO.  The police have been really good which I know isn't the case everywhere so all credit.   They put out alerts to the local farmers really quickly.

We are on the border of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire close to the M1.  Fortunately the two police forces work jointly on most things.

Small farmer.  I am so sorry :bouquet: .  Our GFD ewe was my tamest and favourite too :'( :'( .  I think it is difficult to stop them becoming tame as they are so friendly by nature -even the rams we have as visitors are no trouble.
The DSBA will put it on their site if you are a member.
It just makes you feel so vulnerable and I am now paranoid about constantly checking the sheep, and anyone who dares to stop on the road near our field.

If the police get no where consider posting them on the internet - some one might name and shame them!

This happened to us not so long ago.. In the Carmarthenshire area!! Police were informed but they couldnt really care less.. Not even the fact that someone had the courage to shot and skin her only a field away from the house!!

There's always been a problem with people stealing sheep etc.. But never have i seen such a proffesional job been done of skinning and butchering an animal before.

Lamb is expensive to buy compared to most other meats so i suppose to the "baaaaastards" that steal/butcher them in a field its all worth it!!
Sad that its not being taken seriously by police forces though.

Beds & Herts police have been amazing.  They put it out through social media with a press release and it was picked up the BBC local radio and Anglian television.  We're urban fringe so rural crime has become an issue: the crime stats were going the wrong way so it's had a lot of attention.

But of course it's made us utterly paranoid and doubled the workload checking the flock, fixing fences so they can be kept close etc.

Scum, utter scum

Last year found some idiot 'ramblers' trying (and failing) to round up
all of my turkeys in the poultry pen. inside 1 lot of stock fencing with another set of electric fencing inside that. At 2PM on a Sunday, 150 yards from the house.....morons

Some firm belief system realignment followed and the ringleader was very very lucky that it was I who caught them, rather than my neighbour, a charming, successful and wealthy man, but a rough diamond who would have used much more than words to make his point.

Feeling for you and your loss, hope the b@stards get caught.
