Title: Electric/automatic gate and intercom system - any recommendations?
Post by: Dreich Pete on January 30, 2014, 10:11:49 pm
We want to install an automatic/electric gate with remote and keypad system. It'll have to be solar/wind powered due to the distance to the house.

Does anybody have any experience selecting and/or installing anything similar?

The gate has to be kept closed because the dogs have free run of the plot and thee gate is the weakest point in our rabbit proofing fence.

Mine worked well for years  http://www.faac.co.uk/ (http://www.faac.co.uk/)

There was a small phone exchange but it had to run on ISDN

I could take the phone round the garden with me and answer calls or answer and open the gate, plus it worked as an internal exchange so you could phone other phones and use it as an intercom etc.  It wasnt solar powered though but I would think it might work as the phones were radio.

My brother fitted mine for me - but he is very good at things like that.

Hi spotted this post and not sure if you have now found suitable automatic gates.   My brother has a company supplying and installing solar powered automatic gates   http://www.solargates.co.uk/automatic-gates (http://www.solargates.co.uk/automatic-gates)

We're not sorted yet so I'll look into that. Thanks.
