Hi Linda
Would have come along but as I'm in South America travelling down the Andes I must decline (yea I know OK for some). so far done 2900 miles by road; only around another 4000 until I get to Tierra del Fuego.
Should make the next meeting though with luck.
Regards from Argentina.

Just wanted to say thank you Linda for hosting the get-together, lovely to meet everyone, we both really enjoyed it. The mud and rain might be the same, but the welcome and views were well worth it

Totally agree. Thanks Linda and Ian and thanks also to those that made the lovely cakes ;D

 Thank you everyone for coming ..... even the weather couldn't dampen the spirits of enthusiastic smallholders taking comfort from all being in the same boat (maybe not the best saying in the current climate!)
Many thanks for the cake donations.
I hope we can meet again soon (End March/early April?)

Thank you from us too Linda, we had a great time, it was lovely to meet everyone and to put faces to the user names ;)
Definitely be up for future get togethers and more than happy to take a turn and host it here

And thanks from us, being new to smallholding and the area it was good to meet up with likeminded people. Certainly be coming to the next one.
Thanks Ian and Linda
-
Well most of the good things have been said so I'd better think of some thing better.
Great to meet all of you some for the second time, some not.
I just loved the black Dexters.. when you eat them is it one or two to a plate ?? :roflanim:
It was interesting to hear about the fertilizer spreader on the back of the quad and the use of a part of an old harrow set to scarify the grass lands to invigorate the grass to grow well .
From what I've seen not many of the farming folk around here do anything but graze with sheep .
It was surprising to see just how big the wind supplied free firewood supply is on the holding. All you have to do now is drag it all back to the home base for cutting up
Thanks for a pleasant afternoon out .

Really sorry I missed meeting up with you all. Had to build a pig ark from scratch because Steve the boar has been on the rampage again. Hope everyone had a good time. Will keep an eye out for future events and hope to meet some of the new faces soon. Wish I'd had such an enthusiastic and helpful network of smallholders when I was starting out.
All the best,
Liz

Had to make a temporary maternity wing, so lucky i didnt come along. My big girl decided to go into labour during our hurricane. Managed to get her into the warmth of a spare trailer. All happy bunnies there now. A first for our new boar Arthur !
-
Always handy to have a spare trailer! Had to do the same when a pig that shouldn't have been in pig started nesting furiously in a snow storm. I was so glad I hadn't sold the unroadworthy old Ifor Williams on eBay.
Good luck with the litter.

Sorry you couldn't make it.
Liz ... was going to pick yr pig experience.
My livestock trailer is still a temp poultry house ...see other thread for details... but hopefully today they can be put into a new shed. Bought elec netting but not as happy they are safe from fox as when they were in the fab pen Ian had spent weeks building
