i want to start a feed club so food can be ordered in large quantities and distributed between the members the more to join the cheaper it gets i have a large secured shed to store the feed till its collected it is also covered by cctv with night vision camera they are hidden but cover a large area there is a private drive way i buy 2 sacks every 2 weeks all the details will be worked out once we get enough interested people
-
It might help get some interest if you could give an example of what people might save and how much feed you need to buy to get the discounts.
-
Well as of now i get 25kg bags for £12.95 including delivery but if say we buy 50 at a time the would be as low as £8 a sack or cheaper
-
We can get 20kg sacks of layers for £6.50 a sack if you buy 20 or more sacks of feed but the 20 can be any feed at all
-
£12.95 per bag is an extortionate price :o You must be living somewhere that's extremely remote.

Indeed it is. You are being properly ripped off there.

Well I saw a Dodson & Horrell bag of layers pellets for that kind of price in the local petshop (some kind of chain),never thought anyone would pay this kind of price for layers pellets. Ours are between 6 and 7 pounds for 20kg bag from agri merchant.
-
prices have gone down a bit , so I've heard. It does not really reflect that much on the retail price in Fife. In Newburgh OH paid £ 9 last for Spillers pellets but I have paid up to £9.80 elsewhere. Higher than that I've only seen at PetsAtHome - where I went for information purposes only....Which brand are you considering to get, DF, and where in Fife are you? :&>
-
Wow £12.95 that makes me feel better :relief: . I pay £11 for a 20 kg sake here. But that is for a bag of mixed corn. I don't know how prices compare between layers & mixed corn.
If I was closer to you I would of been happy to join the feed club. I think it's a great idea
-
just to get things into perspective, I'm currently paying £4.50 for a 25kg bag of whole wheat.
-
£ 5 for 20 kg here but that's directly from the grower :&>
-
20kg bag costs 14€ or about £12
So my chickens eat the same as the pigs which means no chicken for the pigs
No additives either. Laying everyday. Good shells with deep coloured yolks, organic and very tasty

Bugger I just realised you get 25 kg sacks. So you are still getting your feed a little cheaper than me. Now that is annoying :huff: . I thought I was doing well with my £11 for a 20 kg sack for a while :-J .

I'm in kennoway if you guys can get them that cheap please let me know where as I could do with stocking up a few bags I usually give them a 50\50 mix of layer pellets and corn if anyone near me dosnt mind ordering a few for me lol
-
A good idea but where do you get your feed, I pay £9-00 odds for layers pellets and for the month of January at one place it was £8-00 for mixed corn The three main feed places nearest are all about the same and that is retail prices. Whole sale prices will be a bit less. What do other Fife folk pay and who is your supplier.
-
The cheepest I found was on eBay i have looked around near me but all were between £15-£20 per 20kg sack so I ordered them at £12.49 but in was told order in bulk for lower prices but I can't afford 50 sacks myself lol so wanted to start a feed club not just chicken food but any large orders of chicken duck horse rabbit or even budgie seed or a lot of different sacks would lower the costs as I said I have a large shed to store a lot of sacks 25ftx12ft to be precise lol
-
I get four bags at a time delivered and put in ,my containers for £8.50 a bag Nutripet. 20kg bags. Colin is on here sometimes, but he lives at Cambus so Kennaway's a bit far I think.
-
Check out Blacks Feeds in Collessie, they deliver and last time it was 9.60 a bag I think. :&>
-
I usually use Blacks as prices include delivery because I get hay from them. Most recent price was £9.50 each pellets and corn, they were £9.25 before Christmas.
When I don't need hay but do need over £50 worth I get free delivery from Davidsons in Blairgowrie and the last corn price I can find was £7.95 ex VAT so about the same £9.54. For under £50 they will deliver to the nearest Davidson Chemist shop which is Newburgh for me so only 3 miles and I time collection when I'm going to the village for other things.
The garage in Newburgh also usually has stocks but in low numbers so you can go and they've none pending delivery 2 days later so I use them as a backup emergency place to try. Can't remember the price but it's more for summer when hay is not being delivered and before I found out about Davidsons delivery policy so it'd be out of date anyway.
A cheaper supply would be great, but I can't drive to pick it up in Kennoway without incurring a large fuel and time cost so I doubt it'd be worthwhile for me not to mention loading and unloading the car can be too much some days so doorstep delivery has more appeal than a 10p saving per bag. I use ad lib pellets in the feeder and a scoop of corn at teatime which works out about a bag a week of pellets and one a fortnight of corn in winter, a bit less in summer when there is more free ranging and less messing up my back doorstep..
-
We used Blacks at Collessie for all our feed requirements when we had :goat: :chook:. Found their prices very reasonable.
-
Ellied you need to get on to the trading standards there's no VAT on feed.
-
Sorry, I may have misread the invoice, it was itemised and VAT added at the bottom, so possibly not on all items. £7.95 was the price for that item and the VAT was presumably on other items in total, my mistake.

Dose anyone have an address for blacks at colessie and post code
